You can learn more about the LG Velvet here. For example, see the sample below: This was taken during a sunny day, so it’s one of the best photographing scenarios already, but look what happens when I zoom in on the second image: the softness in the details is evident. But most importantly, as an LG “fan,” I am happy to see Velvet drawing praises for its looks and design, which is something LG phones hasn’t been able to grab from the mainstream tech press in years. Since it's connected via the USB-C port, the display pulls power directly from the phone. The 360 bit also means that the cover can be left open at any angle, opening up use cases like video watching with the phone left on a table - we do have a reviewer that catches up on Netflix shows over lunch that way. The camera design is very aesthetically pleasing. The software could use a few tweaks too. Is someone out there actually still trying to do this? The LG G5 is infamous for attempting and failing on starting a modular smartphone movement, but I still think of the device fondly because it was the first smartphone to offer an ultrawide angle camera, which is now standard in smartphones. It's meant to help with multitasking without the hassle of having to deal with fragile folding displays. But I think this is LG making a conscious effort to rebrand its mobile line. Reviews The case protects the phone and offers an entire second screen, to the left of the main screen, that you … Their interface is simple, their devices are plug and play, and their entire ecosystem is built around offering multiple options at every price point. Do not sell my data, 4. Having said that, being able to see two apps side by side or have a gaming controller sure do look like appealing reasons to use the Dual Screen. We had to send the main screen to the DS, and then launch the gamepad, at which point it would end up on the main screen which the phone would then treat as the secondary display. LG's established approach to the primary screen on the Dual Screen has been kept here - the display is identical to the main one, notch and all. The front has lost the glass panel and is now plain matte plastic - a move which is probably single-handedly responsible for the 5g weight savings. The LG Velvet comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB user memory (On the AT&T version, about 97GB of that is available to the user from the start), and it can accept up to a 2TB memory card. I’ve always had a soft spot for LG’s G series of phones, because the third model, released in 2014, was my first Android device. Not only did that make phone names absurdly long (there was an LG V50S ThinQ Dual Screen), but it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say I have not seen one person (fan or reviewer) who liked the name. A single front-facing 16-megapixel camera lens dips down from the upper border at the center top of the display. This is an underrated feature until it is needed, and then it’s something to be thankful for once an accident or dunking occurs. I have used plenty of Snapdragon 865 and 765 phones and I can’t name one real world scenario in which I can tell the difference between the two processors. The back has sort of kept the striped texture, only now the ridges are spaced more closely. The 5G LG Velvet starts as an agile, fashionable, and versatile Android smartphone; the addition of its optional and removable Dual Screen case provides a second display for those times when you need a phone that can do more. Using the Velvet as a standalone phone is a standard Android experience in 2020, but what adds to the experience is the LG Dual Screen case, which is being bundled free with the phone in many markets. I went into heavy detail on the functions and uses of the second screen in my V60 review, but suffice it to say that it is convenient for having a separate area to chat in another app, for instance, when you are in the middle of a Zoom call. The Dual Screen Case does drain the battery significantly faster than when using the Velvet alone, So you need to be mindful of that when using it.
