That is 6 shots, all groups are 6 rounds. Put a set of Colt adjustable sights on this, even introduce a 4″ with a half lug (like the original Trooper Mark III and Mark V) and it’ll definitely find its way into my inventory. All of which is to say, there is a difference with the King Cobra.

COLT KING COBRA.

I shot it in the monsoon rains we had earlier this year, and now that it’s summer I got to shoot it again in the 100-plus degree heat. If you intend to use the King Cobra for defense of life and limb, mastering its trigger should also mean mastering the trigger’s full reset cycle. The first is that the “false reset” is quite pronounced. Great write up by the way! With the easy availability of .357 Magnum brass, there’s absolutely no practical reason for this loading, but I still like it.

Just Dreaming????? Thanks again for a great review and replies. With a .357 Magnum, I would have much preferred a 4-inch gun.
A high-volume, “steady diet” of .357s is more appropriate for a service-size gun than a compact carry gun like this one. These were made in the Colt Custom Shop using King Cobra Revolvers. (2) The bullet in a .357 Magnum cartridge is closer to the cylinder gap and forcing cone than the bullet in a .38 Special cartridge.

I believe I am now in the possesion of actual .45 colt rounds loaded with silver bullets. This all happens because the classic Colt DA design drove everything off of one spring – the V-spring that is the main spring. That the preening author hates it is icing on the cake. I agree on the point that it is a fact of life with Colts, and that training is the answer. ©COPYRIGHT 2020, THETRUTHABOUTGUNS.COM ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. What really takes a beating with lots of .357 fire are parts like the bolt and the crane. October 14, 2020 October 15, 2020 by Shawn. Ruger and now others have done amazing things with cast metal. I only pack .357 in the woods. It was noted well before the internet became sentient. My first two groups at the fifteen-yard line were both at least five inches in diameter, so I moved the target back to ten and stayed there. I have no issue with MIM parts, when they are done right.
This weekend during load development, I drove 20 rounds of .45 Colt ammo through a Ruger Bisley. The new Colt King Cobra Carry is a DAO .357 with a bobbed hammer and 6-shot cylinder (Photo: Colt) Colt’s new magnum-caliber snub weighs 26 … Not for sentimental reasons. If you don’t like the factory grips, excellent aftermarket grips for the Colt King Cobra are available through VZ Grips. The name on the side means nothing in comparison to the performance of the thing. Maybe since .38 special is such a low pressure round there’s too much leade and the pressure drops to much. A Note on the “King Cobra” name: Unaccustomed and emotionally unattached as I am to Colt Revolvers, I brook no complaint with the re-use of the “King Cobra” designation. For years individuals wishing to carry a revolver for defense have had to make the same miserable choice.

It might be helpful to think of this as “reverse stacking”. I personally like the 3 inch barrel as more concealable without picking into my hip bone.

That includes many F.H.P. Frame Material: Stainless steel Excellent review. Now that’s what I’m talking about. Thank you for the wonderful review! The lead also penetrated ballistic gel better than silver, something the MB crew attributed to the lead’s greater weight.

NIB Colt King Cobra, 357 mag, 3" lug barrel, steel frame, stainless finish, Hogue grip, 6 shot, LL2 trigger system, King Cobra markings. To echo Mike the SP101 is a fantastic gun and we will certainly review it eventually. Though released earlier this year there has been precious little in-depth media coverage on this gun, and we’re proud to take an early – and long – look at it here. I may yet still. There’s an article here with some “tested” velocities.

I can see why they went with King Cobra for this guy (given that it is a beefed-up version of the New Cobra), but, even as a youngster who isn’t attached to the old names, I have a hard time not thinking of this gun as exactly what it is: the New Magnum Carry. More importantly, like my dad’s Colt revolver, it deserves its place by the bedside. The 3″ Kimber is advertised at 25.1 ounces; I weighed this gun at 28.2 ounces.

Python Series.

3. In addition to not particularly caring for the premier load from Federal, the Colt King Cobra seemed to demonstrate a preference for the other two .357 Magnum loads I grouped: the Remington 110-grain semi-jacketed hollowpoint and the full power (and I mean FULL power) 125-grain Speer Gold Dot. I was slightly surprised by this, since I was generally unimpressed with the fit of some early production new Cobras that I saw. If given the choice between the extra round of the new King Cobra or the strength of the SP101 for a carry gun I would go for the stronger more durable gun. Grips: Hogue OverMolded I am now officially interested in this gun. Great product. JHP, 8 rounds Sig .38 Special +P V-Crown 125-grain JHP, 6 rounds SuperVel .38 Special +P 90-grain JHP, 6 rounds Remington HTP .357 Magnum 110-grain SJHP, 50 rounds Prvi Partisan.38 Special 130-grain FMJ. I carry the 101 daily, great all purpose firearm. So use the full bore .357 loads and you’ll get more ME out of the 3″ than most factory loads get out of a 4″. Here is a 15 part essay on trying to make a silver bullet. Keep writing. For those of you who’ve never read Skeeter Skelton, get your life right. When reading honest reviews by “real” people who actually got stuck with this turkey they have been highly dissatisfied with the gun. The confluence of features found in the Colt King Cobra make a gun that is exceedingly pleasant to shoot comfortably and accurately. And the classic Colt’s are too cool. That’s the way it has always been, but we just lost the path a few years back and are only now regaining it. If the barrel was an inch shorter I would have one on order already, but I get that Colt doesn’t want to cannibalize sales from their .38 line. Now I think I know why I never have had a trigger problem with any of my revolvers. Unfortunately, it is a little tainted as they used 357 magnum revolvers to test both 38 sp3ciala and 357 loads. Wouldn’t the king of the snake guns be the Anaconda?

I own the new KC. I did find that after a couple of weeks of daily handling I ceased to notice this little distinction. Back in the day some of the pros I read/talked to called a 4″ .357 mag a loud .38. His product is five star.

If Colt is bringing back their revolvers, they should go all out; bring back the Detective pattern revolvers with tapered barrels and exposed ejector rods. (Photo: Guns.com).

I agree I wish it had the adjustable rear sites at least a 4 or 5 inch barrel and I wish they’d make it in the blued steel.
