In this tech article, I will show you how to remove the front and rear seats from your BMW E53. Then feed out of the seat back in the direction of the yellow arrow. Then lift up and remove the two seat back side cushions. Repeat for the right side. Once the fasteners are removed, remove the mounting bracket (yellow arrow) from the seat back pivot. Pull the cushion forward to detach the clip (blue arrow) from the socket (yellow arrow). Slide the bracket toward the front of the vehicle to remove it. Rear Seat: With the seat cushion moved forward, remove the 16mm center seat belt fastener (green arrow). Now you can remove the seat from the vehicle. Then pull the cover back to remove. Rear Seat: With the side cushions removed, fold the seat back down. Then, remove the two 16mm mounting fasteners at the seat rails. Front Seat: Once the seat belt and fasteners are removed from your seat, tilt the seat backward to expose the seat electrical connector. Once removed, you can repair items like the seat switches or motors, or in the rear, the fuel pump or seat belt buckles.
